E3 Part 1
It came and then it went. The long awaited E3 started June 10 and it has now recently ended. Boy oh boy do I have a lot to say about this year. I have a lot of good things to say and a lot of bad things. So, this topic will be in 3 parts. One part for each company. This part is going to be about Nintendo.
As we all know, Nintendo did not have a press conference this year. That kind of sucked since a lot of fans were looking forward to it, but I can see why they did it. They knew that E3 for Sony and Microsoft was going to be about their next generation counsel. Nintendo already released theirs so there was no point in having a conference. I do like the fact that they had a live stream set up so that everyone could tune into Nintendo Direct @ E3 so we could all see the games that were coming out. However, the live stream did skip a lot, but I won't really blame Nintendo for that since they did post the video online after the live stream so that people who missed it were still able to watch it. Now let's get to the games.
Nintendo has some pretty cool games coming out for both the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U. I'm not going to go over the games in order so bear with me. I first want to talk about Pokemon X & Y since that was in a previous post. We already knew what the new region was going to look like, the ability to use one of the pokemon to roam around town, and the ability to customize your character among other things. What Nintendo revealed this time is basically what type the new eevee evolution was. It was revealed to be a new type called Fairy Type which is super effective against Dragon Types (Finally! Dragon Types are hard to defeat!). Pokemon-Amie was also revealed. It's a new feature that allows us to get closer to our Pokemon. We can pet them, feed them, and make faces at them. It's almost like the pokemon are real which basically increases the experience you get while playing the game. Okay, next game: Super Mario 3D World. ...OH MY GOD PEACH BECOMES USEFUL! We actually get to play as Peach. Anyway, each character in this game has their own unique ability. Mario's powers are still the same, but Luigi is more agile than Mario, Peach can hover in the air just like in braawl, and Toad can run faster... that's not a surprise. Mario also has a new power known as the Cat suit or power... whatever Mario becomes a cat. He gains the ability to scale walls and attack enemies with his claws. This makes it easier to get to the top of the flag pole at the end of the level so you can get the one up if you really need it. It never hurts to give Mario new powers. Next: Pikmin 3. Now this game sounds like it's going to be good. Instead of Olimar, we are introduced to three new characters. (Sadly, I don't remember their names) These explorers come from a planet in desperate need of food. Like always, the Pikmin Planet (which I'm convinced is Earth after the apocolyps) is not the set destination. They ended up crash landing there. They meet the Pikmin and search the planet for seeds so they can grow food on their planet. Now, we have two new types of Pikmin: Rock Pikmin and Winged Pikmin. You heard me right; Winged Pikmin. Our Pikmin can now fly! Something tells me this will prove to be a blessing and a curse. The Rock Pikmin I see as being new versions of the Purple Pikmin. Anyway, Nintendo revealed that the game will have new gameplay. First off, you have a map on the GamePad. Second, you can split up your pikmin into teams. You can switch teams to gain more food and cover more ground then ever before. Again, I think this will prove to be both a blessing and a curse. Pikmin fans will most likely love this game and gamers who haven't played pikmin will easily get into the franchise. Yet another game to look forward too. Next is Bayonetta 2. What can I say? It's Devil May Cry, but with a female main charcater. I find it funny how the first Bayonetta was exculsive for Xbox 360 and that the sequel is exculsive for Wii U. But that's a rant for a different time. Now I never played Bayonetta before since I don't own an Xbox 360, but I did some research on it and I have to say that I might just get it. It sounds like fun. Okay, I can't hold it in any longer. I have to talk about Super Smash Brothers for Wii U and 3DS. DOODS, IT LOOKS AMAZING!!! Nintendo continues to surprise me with this amazing series. Of course we have all of our characters in it, but this is the first time the game was made for handheld. Of course, the graphics have dimmed down, but that's to be expected. As we all know, Brawl broke the tradition of all of the characters being strictly from Nintendo with the appearence of Sonic. Now we have two more characters. One from Nintendo and one we haven't seen in quite awhile. The one from Nintendo is the villager from Animal Crossing (...still don't understand the love of that game...). I see this character as a comic relief charcater since the attacks shown in the trailer are pretty funny. Now for the character we haven't seen in awhile... it's MegaMan. That's right, our favorite Mavrick Hunter is back. I was so excited to see MegaMan again along with his new upgrades. It's been too long since the last MegaMan game. It feels good to see our blue warrior in action again. The game hasn't come out yet and I already have a favorite character. THANK YOU NINTENDO!! XD
Now, I would love to cover on the other games like Mario Kart 8 (ZERO GRAVITY YES!), Sonic Lost World (NEW POWERS!), and Yoshi's New Island, but I only have time for one more game before I go on to the next E3 Post. That game is The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Please, you thought I was going to mention Nintendo at E3 and not talk about LOZ? Yeah right! Now, I would talk about the remake of Wind Waker, but there's not much to talk about besides the new feature known as the tingle bottle (yeah... there's no way of making that sound better) which allows you to use Miiverse for the game. Now, A Link Between Worlds is the continued story of Link to the Past... Link. I think this is a wonderful idea since we are continuing the story of one of the reincarnations of our favorite hero in green. I mean it's been a couple of years since Link to the Past. It feels nice going back once in awhile. Link has the ability to now become a drawing on the wall making it possible to switch from 2D to 3D (Blessing and a Curse). Now this is just a theory, but I think with the title screen having a shadow of the triforce in it, I think Dark Link is going to be the bad guy here. According to the trailer old items and bosses will return... I think. Anyway, this game looks amazing and I'm looking forward to getting it for 3DS.
Phew, that was a lot and to only think that we've only just begone. So let's wrap things up with Nintendo. There was no presss conference which was a little upsetting, but Nintendo made it up with the live stream and showing us some amazing games to look forward to. Nintendo's future is defientaly bright. I can't wait for these games to come out and for me to try them out for myself. Here's the site for more information on the games Nintendo presented on their live stream. I think they have the video up there too: e3.nintendo.com (gotta copy and paste it. Srry Blogger being a jerk) Next up is Sony. Well, those are my thoughts. Voice of a Gamer signing out.
